We are Headshot Recruitment Agency, and our client is a cutting-edge payment solutions provider serving industries from traditional e-commerce to high-risk verticals such as gambling, betting, crypto, and fintech.

They’re building a next-gen AI-driven influencer platform and scaling marketing and payment infrastructure with a performance-focused mindset. Now seeking a Head of Payments to lead strategy, operations, and partner relations in one of the most dynamic sectors of digital finance.

The Head of Payments will oversee all aspects of the company’s payment operations, ensuring optimal payment flow across global markets. This is a leadership role that combines strategic thinking, regulatory expertise, and hands-on experience working with acquiring banks, PSPs, and payment systems—particularly in high-risk environments.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a scalable payments strategy aligned with business goals
• Manage payment operations across card payments, APMs, and crypto
• Build strong relationships with acquiring banks, PSPs, and financial partners
• Negotiate favorable fees and terms with providers
• Ensure high approval rates, minimal chargebacks, and effective fraud prevention
• Work closely with compliance teams to meet regulations in the UK, Malta, and the EU
• Lead and develop a team of payment specialists, fostering high performance
• Drive process automation and leverage analytics for continuous improvement
• Provide regular performance reports and strategic recommendations to senior management

Requirements:

• 5–7+ years in a senior payments leadership role (PSP, fintech, or high-risk industries)
• Deep understanding of acquiring, card schemes, APMs, and crypto payments
• Proven experience managing financial institution partnerships
• Knowledge of UK, EU, and Malta regulatory landscapes
• Strong track record in payment optimization, cost reduction, and team leadership
• Experience in compliance, AML, and fraud mitigation
• Familiarity with payment automation and data analytics tools
• Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus)
• Experience in gambling, forex, crypto, or other high-risk verticals
